Meg Beth is an Australian singer-songwriter from Toowoomba, Queensland, who can often be found performing covers and originals from behind her piano and guitar, or behind the microphone in the recording studio. The 16-year-old’s songwriting is an infectiously melodic blend of indie pop with heartfelt lyrics about dealing with life, love and loss.
2018 is proving to be quite a year for the talented teenager. Not only has Meg Beth been busy in the recording studio, she has also won two major songwriting prizes. She was awarded a coveted spot in the Big Sky Girls Songwriting mentorship program as well as being named the overall winner of the inaugural USQ Get Songwriting national prize.
Meg Beth’s debut EP album Take Me Away, an atmospheric blend of brooding piano-based indie pop, was created with Brisbane producer and musician Phil Hirvela, and the result is a musical alchemy that is not your average pop album.
Meg Beth pinpoints the struggles of her teenage years and the hardships of multiple moves throughout her school years as inspiration for her songwriting. “Songwriting always helps me through the hard times,” she says. “I like channelling all my emotions into music.”
